In June 2017, I will have worked in public schools for 36 years. Where does the time go?? I was part of a "swat team" at our school to administer AIMS web screenings 3 times a year to all students in K-4. Based on the data received from the screenings, I provide RTI interventions at the kindergarten level, while reading teachers provided interventions for grades 1-4. In addition, for the past several years, I have been fortunate to provide a TIER 1 intervention to all kindergarten classrooms one time a week in the area of language and literacy. I find that each new year continues to be an exciting adventure! As of September 2015, I moved to a high needs district and it has been wonderful. Love what I do and all the language that I can incorporate into their day.
Structured but fun. Humor is a key component as well as taking an interest in each student whom I work with!
Teacher of the Year in 2011 for the school district I was at for 34 years.
Received my undergraduate degree from Fredonia State University in Fredonia NY in the area of Communication Sciences and Disoders. Received my masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY. I am a ASHA certified Speech/Language Pathologist and licensed by NY State. I can frequently be found taking workshops and courses to keep myself updated so I can always provide the best to my students and fellow staff members.
I run a learn to skate program and will go out and teach or help the little kids how to skate. I was a skater, my daughter was a skater as well as my son (hockey). I love to see the kids develop a life long skill - it is very similar to being a speech pathologist - doing something you love, seeing them succeed and having a skill that will last a lifetime!
