TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching for over 20 years, mostly in 2nd grade. My concentration is in Reading with a strong focus on phonics and decoding. I'm currently teaching Direct Instruction Reading. I have seen many chances in instructional strategies over my many years in the classroom.(Some good, some not so) I try to hang on to what works for me as well as for the students I have in my class each year. Each year is different, so I try to adapt. One thing that has not changed for me is the need to provide my kids with a strong background in phonics so that they can become successful readers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I would have to say that my teaching style is Teacher Directed.
