I have been teaching preschool (regular and special education) since 2008. This past year, I was also an interventionist for grades K-2.
I believe that a teacher has many roles, but the most important is that of a guide. We need to guide our students to discovering things for themselves. Learning is a process, and when our students are in charge of the process, they learn with understanding and can apply the skills and knowledge easily. Learning should be hands-on, student-centered, and fun!
