TEACHING EXPERIENCE

In my seven years of experience, I've taught a little bit of everything! During my first year of teaching, I taught kindergarten through third grade special education. I absolutely loved every minute of it, and saw myself in this setting for many years to come. Due to a difficult and academically low group of students, I moved to upper elementary to follow my third grade students from the prior year. Initially, I wondered if I was suited to teach upper elementary. I soon learned that I loved it just as much. During my second year, I taught fourth and fifth grade special education. I loved my school, principal, students, and fellow teachers, but my daughter was beginning kindergarten at another school. When I had the opportunity to switch school districts to be with my daughter, I did. I began teaching fifth grade general education in a school that departmentalizes. I had the privilege of focusing only on math, science, and social studies. The following year, I pulled double duty! I taught fifth grade general education AND serviced our students with disabilities in kindergarten through fifth grade. It was quite a challenge, but I absolutely loved it. This year, I am back in the primary grades and can feel like the store name The Primary Gal is a fit again! I am doing special education in kindergarten and first grade!
