In 1998 I started coaching gymnastics, which led me to pursue teaching. I have earned my masters in elementary education from Lesley University and am certified by Massachusetts’ DESE for children pre-K to 6th grade. I have worked in private and public schools in special education, as a paraprofessional, long term sub, and teacher. Early in 2019 I left my multigrade classroom at the Clark School in Rowley to be a full-time mom with the intention of returning. As Covid-19 came into our lives I decided I didn’t want to risk returning to the classroom. As I heard from many friends about their schooling options this year, I realized I can help so many kids with remote learning by tutoring in person or online.
I use a variety of styles, but I like to use systems because so many of my students have needed that order, organization and routine for them to be successful in the classroom. I like to have the students help pick the type of project and how they will present their knowledge, but also make sure they learn test taking skills since most avoid it. The most important thing about me as a teacher is that I believe in the student-teacher relationship. The trust we have some our students is paramount to them learning. I also believe in self-advocacy. It's a skill so many kids lack and need to learn.

I have a toddler who keeps me on my toes. I am constantly trying to create more opportunities for learning with him and it's making me a better teacher.
