TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 7-12 grade English for eleven years. My favorite grade level is freshmen, and many of the materials in my store have been created for my students and tweaked according to what is the most successful in my experience.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love to try new things with my students. Generally, I believe introducing new content through direct instruction via minilessons is the most successful approach for high school students, but I also use chunking throughout every class period. In this way, I move from teacher-centered to peer-driven activities and eventually independent practice. I love activities that involve students kinesthetically, musically, and creatively.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been asked to speak to new teachers about differentiation and to the entire staff about my use of the flipped classroom.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I earned a bachelors' degree in English, a curriculum and instruction masters' degree, and also currently hold a Reading Specialist certification.
