My first teaching position was working in a cadavers lab for two years teaching anatomy to occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and premedical students. After earning my teaching degree I transitioned to traditional classroom teaching, working over the past six years in both Canada and the Caribbean as a middle school and high school science teacher. I have experience teaching the following topics: • Middle school biology, chemistry, physics, forensic science, Earth and space, as well as robotics and coding. • High school anatomy, biology, chemistry, physics, health and marine biology.
I am unapologetic about how nerdy I am about science. It's my belief that the best way to have students buy into their own education is to authentically show them that you care about them, and that you love what you're doing. In my classroom I have a "cool science" bulletin board to show students recent discoveries or articles, as well as a "scientist of the month" with a recent or past scientist's biography and summary of discoveries. My lessons are a mix of direct instruction, student-led discussions, and hands-on investigative learning. I also feel it's critical to help students discover connections between curriculum topics and the real world, and introduce students to different study and learning strategies.

I earned my bachelor of science from McGill University where I majored in anatomy and cell biology, with a double minor in psychology and English literature [bit of a Shakespeare lover]. Following my undergrad I also completed a master of science program at McGill University in experimental medicine with a focus on cardiology. After working as a researcher and teaching assistant I completed my bachelor of education at University of Toronto's Ontario Institute For Studies in Education. I earned qualifications for teaching middle and high school science with a focus on global citizenship and sustainable education.
I enjoy traveling, science fiction, being outside, and spending time with family/friends. I'm also actively working on my bucket list, crossing at least one item off of it every year! I've recently obtained my diving certification, gone sky diving, and traveled to New York city. I love the collaborative nature of the teaching community and interacting with other teachers to learn from one another.
