Seven years teaching science in a diverse, Title I middle school which adopted the TAP (Teacher Advancement Program) School model pushed me to develop a student-centered activities with a heavy focus on interdependence and literacy. Hundreds of hours of professional development through Mentor and Department Chair positions have infused my classroom and materials with best practices and that all important sense of humor which is essential for success with teenagers!

When I tell people I teach middle school, most people respond with apologies or statements of Awe. I tell them that I have the best job in the world because I get to teach 160-320 (depending on how staffing goes each year) people every year how the universe works AND have a great time doing it! In addition, my wonderful 3-year-old daughter and large extended family keep me on my feet. We spend as much time outdoors as possible camping, boating, beach bumming and traveling far and wide to develop memories with my family and share experiences with my students!
