TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my eleventh year teaching. I have taught second through fifth grade but my all time favorite grade to teach is fourth grade...which is what I am teaching now! My school is growing and has a high ESL population. I taught in a title one school for six years, so I have experience teaching a variety of students who come from different backgrounds. I have developed the curriculum for common core for our district in language arts in collaboration with two other teachers from my school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use balanced literacy in my classroom and LOTS of technology! I am my grade level's technology trainer and coordinator and I absolutely believe that it can make a child's everyday learning come to life if used correctly and efficiently! I teach language arts each day using directed reading lessons, daily five and guided reading, vocabulary instruction, and writing. I integrate all of these areas as much as I can with U.S. history so that I can make the most of the short time that I have with my students each day.
