TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my ninth year teaching 6th grade English/Language Arts. I've taught the Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs) for two years, and this begins my seventh year teaching the Common Core State Standards. During the summers, I teach for a local summer migrant program (I've taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th grades); I've been there for nine years as well! I'm just completing my fifth semester teaching a public speaking course at night at a local community college.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I won't lie...I'm that "fun" teacher. However, I HOPE (and I know) that my students leave my class having learned the concepts that we talked about because they enjoyed themselves. My favorite part of my job is seeing a student who "gets" exactly what it is we are discussing--there's nothing like that feeling when you see a light bulb come on. :)

Bring on the snow! ;) The story behind my "store" name is a family one. My father was a farmer in his younger days and his apple orchards were known as "Silver 'C' Farms," so it only made sense to name my store as "The Silver 'C' Classroom!"
