TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently in my 3rd year of teaching as a special education English teacher in a low-income High School district. I am also the assistant director for drama club and the advisor for GSA.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have chosen to be the positive ray of sunlight the kids tend to lack in their day. I love to laugh with my kids and I call them turkies, chickens, ducklings, and goslings. I am Mama Hen. I am supportive of all of my students, but I also make mistakes and the kids aren't afraid of talking to me as needed. I am VERY open about my anxiety and the fact that I have chronic migraines. Visibility of such things are super important to teenagers who feel very alone in their mental illness or disability.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

None yet! Still working at it.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BA in English from Rowan University and a certification in K-12 Special Ed. I would like to go for my Masters in Writing Arts.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am very nerdy. I play video games, I read books that the kids think are weird, and I talk to them about all of these things. I am an open person by nature, so I discuss many things with them. I love all my chicken nuggets deeply and they sure as heck know it.
