TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught in Buffalo NY for 7 years Social Studies and ELA grades 7-12. The majority of my experience was with Global I and Global II and AP Gov't and Politics. I taught U.S. history for 7th and 8th grade for 3 years and 80% of my students passed the 8th grade social studies exam the last year it was offered. I have a masters in Adolescent Literacy and taught an ELA reading lab for striving 9th grade readers as well as a workshop over the summer for preparing 9th graders to enter high school at the adult level, I have given professional developments on integrating the Common Core standards into content areas for secondary teachers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I do not do lecture or ppt notes. I strive to get students to engage with the text as much as possible through text based evidence reading and writing, text circle discussions, written discussions, and station work.
