I have taught inclusion classes in language arts and math in the 7th grade and self-contained 7th grade math. I have also taught a self-contained class of students in grades K-4, including reading, math, social studies, science, living skills, fine motor skills, and social skills. I currently teach a self-contained class of early childhood special education students aged 2-5 of all disabilities. I sometimes push in with my students in their Head Start classes and we do participate in reverse inclusion, as well.
I have been using a variety of assistive technology in my instruction, including low and high tech. Because I teach students with significant special needs, I tend to use direct instruction with many visual aids. Pictures are very important in my classroom. I also use many work tasks to teach them independence.
