I worked n the public schools for 35 years and have retired now. I was a military spouse who moved frequently and worked in a variety of settings. I often had to make do with the materials I brought to a new work location. This led to me making a lot of my own therapy materials. I have worked with students from K to HS with a variety of skill levels.
I use a variety of service models to include traditional pull-out, push in and collaboration with classroom teachers. I believe that an engaged student learns best and that means a bit of fun along with the learning of skills. I believe working in collaboration with counselors, and classroom teachers can be highly effective.
I write a blog called "In Spontaneous Speech" that is recognized as one of the Top 100 Speech Pathology Sites" by online speech pathology programs. It is also mentioned on ASHAsphere.
Masters in Speech Pathology from University of WA, Seattle, WA, ASHA certified.
I enjoy playing and learning with my grandchildren who keep me young at heart. I spend time with my pets who make sure I exercise and keep physically fit.
