I teach 5th grade Reading and Language Arts at an amazing school! I love encouraging students to develop a passion for writing and a life-long love for reading.
My teaching style varies depending on the material. Most of the time I am a facilitator or delegator. Students work with a partner or in groups to discuss topics in class. I tend to use this style more when teaching reading or studying a novel. However, they are also independently responsible for creating and working on their own projects. I am there to help them, but they are in charge of the project. When I am presenting new information or teaching students the structure of writing/the writing process I tend to be more of a demonstrator. I demonstrate how to write. We write together. Then they write independently. They have some input, but not as much as when they are discussing/creating questions for a novel or creating a research project.
