I got my start working in a crisis nursery during college. Then did a year in the trenches of Group Home before starting grad school for my MSW and PPSC. I spent three years at a Family Resource Agency where I was the contract counselor for the entire district K-12. My second year masters field placement was with UCDavis CAARE center where I learned Trauma Focused CBT and PCIT. I started working towards my LCSW when my life as a Navy Wife bounced me around leading to work with Young adults with disabilities and juvenile delinquents. I spent the last three years working for the COE as the counselor for Alternative Ed before moving to my current job with the school district elementary level.
My guiding practice is through Evidence Based with additional interest in the socio/ecological theories and strengths based perspective. As an undergrad Kinesiology major I have a strong affinity towards non-traditional ideas like art and play therapy. Our city has also been implementing PBIS at the county and district level, which along side of ASCA best practices our counseling group as a whole follows.

BS. from Whitworth College in Physical Education with a minor in English and Sociology. Units in early childhood education and spanish from local community college. MSW from CSU Sacramento and PPS Credential. Working to finish my LCSW and dreaming of pursuing my Doctorate in Trauma informed care.
My attraction to counseling has always been to learn about people through their stories. I love meeting kids at a level they can understand through common concepts like Disney and fairytales. Because of my extensive background in PE and specifically swimming, I have a tendency to be drawn to Nautical concepts and metaphors. Similarly, thanks to growing up in a small town in the country, You'll find some farm influence to my products! Last but not least, I am the mom of two kids under five, my first born happens to be a miracle baby. I'd love to develop a resource guide for teachers/staff and parents regarding special needs families.
