TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hi there! Thanks for visiting my store. I am a fourth year teacher in Southern California. I was a Science Lab Specialist teacher for just over two years, covering grades 3 though 6, and have developed STEM curriculum for my district's Summer Engineering Academy, focusing on Kindergarten. I have a year of 6th grade (elementary) under my belt, and am mid-way through my first year of 5th grade. Whew!! Hopefully all of this experience can help you find just the right resource for your class!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love out-of-the box teaching, and am not afraid to try new things. Some of the biggest motivators in my teaching style are the books "Teach Like a Pirate" by Dave Burgess and "50 Strategies for Active Teaching" by Andrea Guillaume and the Yopp sisters. I love an interactive, creative, and exciting classroom, so I continually reference these books to help inspire my lesson plans.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received my BA in Liberal Studies with a minor in Natural Sciences from CSU Fullerton. I attended Fullerton for my credential program as well, earning my Multiple Subject and Foundational Level General Science teaching credentials. I am currently entering my final semester at Concordia University, earning my MA in Curriculum and Instruction.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Teaching is my true passion, but in my (rare!) spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, relaxing with friends and family, and painting. I love creating hand-lettered and hand-painted home decor for local boutiques or online custom orders. I am so grateful to be doing what I love, in a school that I love, and I can't wait to see what the future holds!
