TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hi! My name is Jenn Larson and I have been an elementary teacher for over 20 years and have taught all grades at least once (K - 5), but upper elementary grades are my favorites! Teaching is in my blood as my mother and father were both teachers and one of my brothers works as a professor of history. My daughter is currently in college to become a third generation teacher! Besides teaching, I am a published author! My first book is called "Perfectly Logical! Challenging Fun Logic Puzzles and Brain Teasers for Smart Kids.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Teaching to the whole child is important to me and while I want my students to do well on standardized tests, and work towards that end, I have never felt that tests were the most important thing that I teach. I believe in motivating kids to become life long learners, while modeling the character traits that they need to grow into happy, well-adjusted adults. I love to add humor to the learning day and try to make even the most dull subject come to life. I truly care about the kids I teach and want them to have the best year possible.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have served as a mentor teacher, training student teachers. I was selected to be a school representative for the Curriculum Council and am currently on the District Common Core Committee. I was awarded the Woman of the Year for 2013 - 2014 by the National Association of Professional Women.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BA in Psychology and a Master's in Curriculum/Instruction.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have two kids, a son who is married and works in San Diego and a daughter who is still in college, working to become a teacher! I have three rescue cats too!

Teachers Pay Teachers is an online marketplace where teachers buy and sell original educational materials.
