TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I teach Gifted students (GATE) at four schools in Florida. In the past, I have taught all grade levels, special needs and general education, I have been an ESE staffing specialist, a reading coach, an instructional coach and an assistant principal. 2018-19 is my 21st year in education.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe the key to being an effective teacher is the relationship you develop with your students. To that end, I work hard to create a classroom that is a warm, welcoming, colorful and happy environment, and I strive to develop lessons and activities that are fun and engaging, which make students want to come to my class. Then, I top it off with exciting novels which we read together and talk about. I have a TON of fun in my classroom and I expect my students to do the same. Meanwhile, we're knocking those test scores out of the park! :)

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Hmm. I was runner-up for teacher-of-the-year once. Does that count? Even better - I had a middle school student come to Open House at my elementary school just to see me and say, "What you taught me has really helped me a lot!" That was a big honor!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

K-12, Baker School, Baker, Florida BA - PreK/Primary Education, University of West Florida MA - Exceptional Student Education, University of Central Florida EdS - Educational Leadership and Administration, National Louis University

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a single mom with 2 part-time jobs in addition to teaching. I don't have time to do everything myself, so I really appreciate creative TPT sellers who make my life easier! I hope to grow my TPT store into something that makes your life easier too!
