TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I was an elementary and middle school teacher for several years. Then my learning continued when I became a campus administrator at the elementary and secondary levels. I was an elementary principal for 9 years. From there I went into Curriculum and Instruction at the central office level. I was blessed to work in many school districts across Texas. I retired after 30 years and became a consultant supporting campuses and mentoring principals.

MY TEACHING STYLE

The foundation of my teaching and professional development is Constructivism. Learners need to tread into the unknown with the confidence that comes from making sense of ambiguous or confusing information. Teachers create the conditions for this to occur and guide students in their thinking. I have taught and provided professional development in Balanced Literacy, coaching and data use. I am also a proponent of coaching and have benefitted from Cognitive Coaching™ training.
