TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Over eight years in education in the field of ELA and reading, as well as an educational background focusing in literature and writing.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Fun, engaging, modern, passionate, collegiate. In the classroom, I tried to bring a spirit of honesty, compassion, and conversation. I was the teacher who would stop and spend time explaining an ancient cultural custom so that a poem might make more sense. I was the teacher who spent hours researching and building university-quality materials geared toward a high school setting.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Master of Arts — Professional Writing Southeast Missouri State University, 2016. Bachelor of Arts — English (literature) Southern Illinois University, 2008.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

A quote from Hamlet seemed fitting for my store full of literature and writing materials. I have a deep love of all things literature, theory, rhetoric, and composition. I'd call myself a Romantic and a Transcendentalist and I have a tendency to cry at a good poem. I was a tough teacher, but I have heard from many former students that I was their favorite.
