TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught the following classes with extensive training in Common Core, 1:1, and higher order thinking. I was a publications (yearbook and newspaper) adviser for 11 years, and I have had an tremendous success with both IEP and gifted students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My approach is to drive them to self-actualization. I do not teach to any test, but I move them into the higher levels of thinking so that the spark is ignited for learning. This style sounds like a pie in the sky, but I have successfully reached it year after year. Students 8th through 11th leave my room excited about learning and communicating. They beg for socratic seminars and they embrace ideas outside of the text book. My classes are by no means easy, but students leave proud that they really earned their score and it is usually the best they've seen of themselves.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

In 16 school districts my students illustrated the most improved on the ISTEP test. I am generally too busy to apply or put an honor or award in sight.
