This is a chart I use to help my students learn about contractions. I usually do this with them and we fill it out together in class. It is a great way for them to see which words can be formed into contractions.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have spent time in 5th grade teaching all subjects as well as 11th and 12th grade where I specialized in English. I LOVE writing and literature, but I felt that I am better suited in an elementary setting. That decision led me to 3rd grade! I am entering my second year in 3rd grade so I am still learning the ropes, but I am enjoying learning along with my students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am very laid back in the classroom, but I like things to be neat and orderly. I think that procedures the first few weeks of school can establish a neat classroom as well as well behaved students, both of which are super important to me! I love reading and writing, and we ability group as well as break off by subject so I am responsible for only Reading/Language Arts and Social Studies, both of which I love. I think that reading is the basis for all other learning.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended the same elementary school that I am currently teaching at, which is such a blessing. It's a great place to be and I love it. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee in 2012. There I also earned my Masters degree in Elementary Education in 2013.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am very involved in my church where I teach a small group class each Wednesday night for our youth group. I play on our church softball team as well and I enjoy spending my free time reading, going to the lake or the pool, and spending time with my Shih Tzu, Lucy, who is the cutest!
