My teaching style facilitates process-oriented, self-directed, and collaborative learning. I hope to empower students to use writing as a tool for thinking and a rhetorical opportunity. Good writing often makes a reader uncomfortable. Education, too, should unsettle us. A great class acknowledges these tensions. It merges the academic with the social, the political with the personal, the intellectual with the emotional, and the practical with the abstract. The goal in my classroom is to create a community where tough conversations thrive in the interest of learning.

I’m an adjunct professor at Boise State University and College of Western Idaho teaching writing. I also work at Boise State's Writing Center as the Email Coordinator for our Online Writing Lab. Even though my primary area of study is Literature, I'm passionate about educational theory and research. I love working with first-year students and the writing center to help students become more confident writers.
