TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching elementary for over 25 years in British Columbia, Canada with many of those years being in second grade. I have my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on writing instruction. I have been a primary teacher, an intermediate teacher, and an instructional coach. I have been a literacy reviewer and curriculum writer for 2 large publishing companies. I have also presented many workshops on literacy, numeracy, classroom management, social and emotional learning and assessment for learning.

MY TEACHING STYLE

The resources I create are research based and designed to motivate kids and encourage them to be life long learners by: * increasing their reading, writing and math skills * giving them voice and choice to promote independence * promoting higher level thinking skills * building confidence in learning and social emotional skills * making learning fun My style is very much focussed on the whole child and differentiation. My resources are created with this in mind so that all children have an access point.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Published in: *BC Primary Teachers journal *Tennessee Reading Teacher (peer reviewed) *Featured in Texas Teachers magazine for mindfulness.
