I am delighted to have the opportunity to share my products with teachers from all over the world. Through uploading power point presentations, activity packets, Smart Notebook activities, and cultural units, I have been able to challenge myself to create high quality, innovative products that save other teachers time and let them see how other teachers introduce lessons to their students.
Living and teaching in Germany challenges me to find new & creative educational resources. TpT has allowed me to meet other teachers online and share ideas and stories about teaching in a foreign country. TpT has shortened the distance across the waters!!

This “Beezy” teacher has been teaching for 34 years. Starting her teaching career working as a Special Education teacher for the Austin Independent School District in Austin Texas, the family decided to accept a teaching position working for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools Overseas. After ten years in Austin, they decided to experience life in another country. Her first assignment was working in Germany as an elementary teacher at a school for the dependent children of U.S. soldiers stationed in Germany. After several years of teaching Preschool Children with Disabilities, she decided to take a break from Special Education and is currently teaching Kindergarten. Although her Master’s degree is in the field of educational administration, TheBeezyTeacher has never felt the urge to use it in that she enjoys working directly with children.
Living and working in Germany for over 25 years, has given me a better understanding of global issues, historical, and current events. I feel this is what has made me today. During my career overseas, I have been fortunate to be part of an organization that provides a U.S. curriculum to dependent children of US military personnel. These children relocate every two to three years. They vary considerably to those whose childhood was lived in the same street of the same suburb of the same city. Transcient is the most accurate depiction of how these children live. Security, comfort, and familiarity are words beyond their grasp. It is a luxury envied by many who cry themselves to sleep in each new house with memories of long lost friends and faces. There is always a part in them that longs to call a house a home where things can be unpacked from boxes for good. They continue to long for a whole community- a whole network of people you rely on and respect. I hope that I have made a difference in their young lives. Reflecting on this experience, I realize I have a lot to be thankful for – a lot that many might never be able to say they’ve had. I have loved nearly every moment and do not regret the experiences I’ve encountered because of my decision to live and work overseas. I now have the amazing ability to “move on”. I understand that all moves affect us differently but we commonly learn to “travel light” - emotionally and physically. Teaching in Germany has been challenging. Unlike my counterparts in the U.S., we are in many ways isolated from the cutting edge changes in education and continuing education. Although the internet has done a lot to minimize that isolation, it still requires an effort to stay up to date with my colleagues in the states. Simple things like visiting an education supply store are a once a year opportunity for me when I return to the states to visit family and friends. I miss not being able to attend educational conferences and workshops but this is offset by the incredible cultural experiences we are able to offer these students while they are living in Germany. I have walked through the streets of many cultural cities and have experienced many historical events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall. I realize that no matter where I am, people have the same fears and concerns. I have learned that the world’s people are connected as one and what affects one, affects us all. I have been blessed for living a wonderful life away from home but it’s time to come home.
