TEACHING EXPERIENCE

For the last 30 years, my area of focus has been in Early Childhood via preschool for children with disabilities and kindergarten while living in Germany. Now that I’m in Texas, I enjoy my time working with children as I continue to improve my skills and stay updated on the latest educational trends.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I truly believe children learn best through play; however, with the demands of teaching reading and other academic subjects in kindergarten, it has become difficult for a teacher to manage academic groups and insure that children are working independently. That’s how the idea of creating fact booklets came to me. I wanted a resource that the children could read independently, answer the questions and engage in a project while the teacher conducted groups. Engaging early learners in purposeful, fun learning experiences through project based learning with technology support, is also a passion of mine! I'm spending time today, creating resources to support the classroom teacher!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Before moving to Germany, I graduated from The University of Texas with a concentration in Special Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas for my Masters Degree and have 30 plus years teaching experience in special education (learning disabilities), preschool children with disabilities program, and kindergarten. I currently reside in Texas with my husband!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Having the opportunity to live and work in Germany for over 25 years, gave me a better understanding of global issues, historical, and current events. During my career overseas, I was fortunate to be part of an organization that provides a U.S. curriculum to dependent children of US military personnel.
