TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been in education for six years as a classroom teacher and as an instructional specialist. I have my master's in Curriculum and Instruction. I love teaching in the primary grades {K-2}. I've taught in three states: Florida, Idaho, and now TEXAS! I'm a Mommy to two little ones, so now I have the most important job of all...teaching my own kiddos!

MY TEACHING STYLE

100% Constructivist. I love to watch the light bulb go off for children when they are working in literacy stations and small groups. Children must build and create their own knowledge through meaningful and relevant learning experiences. The teacher has an important role, as guide and facilitator. As William Butler Yeats once said, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.â€

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

General Educator of the Year (2010-2011), Recipient of UNT’s Laurem Christian Robertson Memorial Scholarship (May 2011), Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University (May 2007)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Master's in Curriculum & Instruction in 2012. My coursework has given me tremendous insight of effective teaching and instruction, and I would love to share this with others! I completed my undergraduate coursework in Elementary Education at Florida State University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
