I've taught 7th - 12th grades over the course of my career, in subjects ranging from English (ELA) remedial, test-prep, on-level/academic, Pre-AP, and Gifted and Talented. Additionally, I've taught Psychology and Theatre I-IV. The schools in which I've taught were located in ranges from low-income, rural, and high-income. So, essentially, when it comes to secondary English... I've done it all! And recently, I have obtained my masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy.
I'm certainly an interactive teacher that works hard to create lessons that are engaging and thought-provoking for students. There is very little sit-and-get or "sage on the stage" learning happening in my classroom... I prefer it when students do the discovery!

When I plan lessons and handouts, one of the most important aspects of creating a lesson is that it look professional. I prefer that my handouts DON'T look like something that has just been copied from the textbook because kids don't see the purpose in that. So, all of my lessons and presentations are created with that in mind.
