I've been teaching physical education since 2009 here in Montreal, Canada. Although I currently teach K-6 physical education, over the years I've taught and coached at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. In 2010, I launched ThePhysicalEducator.com, an online professional development resource for physical educators. Through my work on the site, I've helped build the online physical education community, as well as created resources and shared ideas that are used in physical education classrooms around the world. I'm excited to be connecting with the awesome community here on Teachers Pay Teachers and hope that my resources help you be the best teacher you can be!
I recognize the fact that being a teacher is one of the most important responsibilities any person can take on. That's why I pour my heart into the work I do. Behind the scenes, you'll find a teacher who is constantly striving to reflect, learn, and grow in order to be the best he can be for his students. I roll up my sleeves and do the work when it comes to planning standards-based learning activities that are designed to equip my students with the skills, knowledge, and understandings they will need to continue to develop their physical literacy throughout their lifetime. In the gym, you'll find a teacher who is goofy, caring, and excited to be helping young people learn. I make my lessons fun and active, but always focused on learning. From the way I build up learning activities, to the way I assess my students' learning on the fly: everything you see in my lessons has a purpose.
Throughout my career, I've been blessed to have been invited to keynote a variety of physical education events and conferences including: the National Physical Education and School Sport Institute (2013, 2014, 2015, 2017); the 2015 California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Convention; the 2016 Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Convention; and many more! In 2013, I was the recipient of Physical and Health Education Canada's Dr. Andy Anderson Young Professional Award for the province of Quebec. My work on social media was also recognized as I was an Education finalist at the 6th Annual Shorty Awards, an award ceremony celebrating the very best in social media. In 2014, I was invited to co-author a chapter on purposeful integrations of technology in physical education for SHAPE America's National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes for K-12 Physical Education publication.
