I have taught secondary intensive reading for the last 6 years. During my teaching career, I have worked with a wide variety of student backgrounds, but all of the students fell in the lowest 35% of the schools I worked at. My heart and soul went into providing the best reading experience for these students, and I hope my materials will help you do the same. This year I have moved into 4th grade reading, so eventually I can provide materials for that grade level too.
I am a very organized planner when it comes to teaching. I tend to spend hours making sure that every lesson plan is done to perfection. My students quickly learn the expectations and are expected to do their best every time. I like to have a personal connection with my students in which I am more of a motherly figure when I have to be; You know, all of those come-to-Jesus talks! I build a safe environment of learning so even my most stubborn or downtrodden learner can become more confident in themselves and their ability to read.
Over the last two years I have been recognized by the Florida Department of Education as a high impact teacher in the state of Florida.
I grew up in Sarasota, Florida and then moved to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2009 and my master's degree in Reading Education in 2011. Since then I have earned by ESOL and Gifted Endorsements from the state of Florida.
