I have been an elementary school teacher in Colorado for over 20 years. My experience is mostly in fourth grade literacy for English language learners and students of poverty. I've also taught 3rd and 5th grades and spent five years as a K-5 literacy teacher leader.
Balanced literacy approach and we have started infusing mindfulness into our school day. I use Class Dojo as a management and parent contact tool. Next fall, I will be returned to a self-contained classroom since our departmentalizing program is being dismantled and possibly moving down to 2nd grade!
Class Dojo Mentor 2015-present; DonorsChoose Ambassador for Colorado starting April 2018; 15 projects funded on DonorsChoose this school year (2017-2018); Adopt-A-Classroom Highest Needs Fund essay winner and $600 award recipient
Elementary Education at Penn State University; Educational Administration Masters from the University of Denver and a CLDE Masters from Regis University, Denver CO
Mom of 2 boys, 4 and 6, who someday soon can be guinea pigs for my projects! I have an annoying cat who blocks the t.v. while I am trying to watch my shows (which currently is Shark Tank).
