TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been part of the SRVUSD since 2009 and started teaching Scratch computer programming to GATE students in 2015. In 2017, I began teaching psychomotor/P.E to kindergarten/transitional kindergarten students. Since 2015, I've been volunteering to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to adults in Oakland. We emphasize conversation, grammar, speaking, listening, and writing skills to primarily Chinese-speaking adults.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My philosophy (aka "The Wong Way”) is that learning should engage students to allow them to express their creativity because students absorb and retain information more easily when they are interested in a subject. Therefore, my goal is to offer fun, yet educational activities that empower students to think outside the box and be actively involved in the processes of their own learning.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

For more than 25 years, I’ve been a graphic designer, and I play piano, organ, and handbells at my church. Over the last 30 years, I’ve taught various grades in the church’s Sunday School, but more recently, I’ve specifically taught Scratch to 3rd-8th grade students during the church’s summer program.
