TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently teaching fourth grade math. I have taught fourth grade math to four classes the past two years and will teach five classes of math this coming school year. I taught fourth grade ELA, math, and science for six years and I taught every subject area for fourth grade one year. I home schooled my three sons from PreK through the sixth grade. I have also taught three years in the After School Programs that consisted of first through fifth grades. I was a Player Agent for Little League where I worked with seven through twelve year old boys for three years. I taught first through fifth grade boys and girls on Wednesday nights at church for several years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I want a positive learning environment where students know that they will be successful in all areas of learning. I love hands on activities that engage and challenge students while they learn. I like students to collaborate daily with one another in partners, small group, or whole class work and to be able to reflect on their work. I want them to take responsibility for their learning.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was teacher of the year in 2013 - 2014. Graduated Summa Cum Laude

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated with my Education Specialist Degree from Piedmont College in June 2012, my Master of Arts from Piedmont in July 2010; and my Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont in July 2008. I graduated from Vermilion High School.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have been married for 25 years and have three sons. My oldest son is a mechanical engineer, my middle son just graduated from Mercer as a math major and is currently working on the STEM program, and my youngest son is currently a sophomore.
