TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began teaching in 1997, in a self-contained First Grade classroom. Since then, I have taught Kindergarten, Second and Third Grades. My experience has included self-contained and departmentalized environments. I have also taught for several years in an inclusion setting. I've had the opportunity to work on the school level as a Teacher-Leader, and on the district level as a professional development workshop facilitator. Most recently, I was able to participate in a curriculum-writing initiative on the district level. This provided me the opportunity to co-write a curriculum that is aligned to the Common Core State Standards.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that every child can learn. I also believe that every child should have many opportunities to create happy memories. Learning experiences should leave children with deeper understanding and joyful reflections. My classroom decisions are very intentional in providing opportunities for my students to learn, practice, self-express, and have fun. I hope you find that the materials I share with you can help you make your own classroom decisions to support learning and foster many, many happy memories!

My husband and I will soon celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We have 2 awesome daughters, one in high school and one in middle school. They are active girls, participating in softball, theatre, music, and visual art. I enjoy painting, graphic design, and photography.
