I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a major in Education and a minor in Biology. I became dual certified in Biology and Mathematics grades 6-12 but fell in love with teaching math. "Teachers who love teaching, teach students to love learning".
I am a very hands on person and enjoy innovating activities that allow students to get their hands on the materials. I can not stand drill and kill practice but would rather see students apply their skills to real world situations. I constantly ask the question "Why" for students to understand the power of thought. I am a firm believer in stations especially in the middle school grades to keep the classroom live and captivate young minds.
During my college days, I was a four year member on the Dean's List and was a very proud recipient of many scholarships. I worked extremely hard and dedicated every fiber of energy to earn those awards. It is also because of a TEACHER that I chose education as my career! I have been chosen as Teacher of the Month at my school and nominated numerous times over.
I grew up in Southwest Florida and stayed because this is such a beautiful area. My husband is also a native and we both attended local public schools.
I have two children, who bring laughter and love in to our home and I am blessed because of it! Children are the light in this world and I love seeing their personalities shine through.
