TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 22nd year teaching middle school students in a large inner city. I love my job. It is my passion and my driving force. I am currently working with students who were removed from their school due to behavior problems, possession of weapons or drugs. I try desperately to find new ways to reach reluctant learners and have discovered that without inspiration, nothing will get done.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Hands on, visualization, incorporating all 5 senses into the reading process.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

numerous. My favorite "honor" has been written on evaluative statements when I have finished conducting a workshop. My adult students have asked, "What are you on and can we have some?" I a 'on' nothing, but demonstrate a passion and firm belief for what I do. We have the ability to change the world! What an honor and a challenge.
