TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hi, I’m Beth, a teacher, writer, and (fabulous) simulation-game designer. In creating these Time Travel Field Trips, I’ve combined my love of history with my love of teaching, and spiced both up with a touch of drama and adventure. I’ve been a teacher since 1995, with a special emphasis on gifted students for 7 of those years, including 5 years as a GT teacher in Cherry Creek.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I know first-hand how overwhelmed teachers are these days. I am dedicated to creating fun, easy, and colorful history lessons to help teachers and inspire students. My perfect customer is an elementary school classroom teacher who loves interactive, playful, and imaginative history lessons, but who doesn’t have time to research or create them. When students play history, their imaginations and emotions are engaged, making the lesson both fun and memorable. Often, 4th and 5th graders choose to continue playing their history lesson at recess! My games are packed with accurate history – both the gritty detail that makes them fascinating, and the primary sources which are so essential. They are fast-moving and much more in-depth than most elementary school history materials. As they are also standards-based, complete with pre- and post-assessments, teachers can relax knowing their curriculum is being covered – above and beyond requirements!

Graduated Vassar cum laude.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Vassar College with a degree in history, and went on to get a Master’s in Teaching from Lewis and Clark. In addition to my current Colorado teaching license, I’ve earned my gifted endorsement.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I live in Centennial with my husband, two kids, two and a half cats (not an industrial accident – ask me sometime!), and a King Charles spaniel.
