I have been teaching Art and Art History as well as study and writing skills, in some shape or form for well over twenty years. I have taught in a variety of institutes from single sex to co-ed high schools, public art galleries, and in adult education programs for a major university here in New Zealand.
I have evolved over the years from a chalk-and-talk style teacher to a collaborative lecturer incorporating digital resources and e-learning. My visual classes are a mixture of demonstration and student-led experimentation.
Bachelor of Visual Art, majoring in Painting and minoring in Sculpture Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching (secondary school) Post Graduate Diploma in Art History (awarded with Merit)
Although I have legitimate qualifications from reputable institutes, I still think of myself as being largely self-taught due to the experimental quality of my visual art making, and the fact I had never studied Art History before teaching it, and undertaking my Post Grad. As such, I strongly encourage curiosity in my students.
