I have been teaching since 1996. I have taught in Samoa, Australia, England and I am now running my own preschool in Canada. I have taught in mainstream school environments, school for the Deaf and schools for the hearing impaired. I have an Associate Diploma in Drama and ran Drama, Movement and Voice workshops as a business for 5 years. Recently I have been moving into doing Acrylic painting on Canvas. I have been dabbling in it since 1988 but have taken art seriously since 2014.
My style caters for the individual child and is aware that all children learn differently, at different paces. I promote whole communication and believe that teaching all children, using some sign language, is beneficial to their overall learning. I am a powerful believe in using the body to learn. My Art is about Healing Hearts. It's very therapeutic and I aim it towards, girls and women.
My biggest reward is experiencing how much hearing children love using sign language when learning songs or reading books. My proudest moment is seeing my preschool children use the Alphabet hand-shapes to help trigger their memory when being assessed for their letter and sound recognition. Recently I sold 4 pieces of work in the last 2 months. This has been very exciting for me and I give God all the glory and thanks.
Masters in Special Education (Sensory Disability), Associate Diploma in Drama, Certificate 4 in Auslan, Certificate 4 in ASL. I majored in art in grade 12 and did some lessons throughout my life but primarily, art is self taught and God inspired.
Selling Art is a new exploration. I love to make scripture come alive using Art.
