I have 10 years of experience teaching 5th to 8th grade science.
I do my best, every day, to keep an open mind and remind myself that my impact on my students is greater than I will ever know. I remind myself that my words can make or break my students. I am always willing to learn from others and am open to any suggestions to improve my craft.
I have mentored 11 teachers, head of the science department for 4 years, have overseen the duties of grade level team for 5 years, and Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011 school year.
I earned an associates degree in biology in 2002 and continued my higher education and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in biology 2005. I wish to continue my higher education with a masters degree in the sciences.
I have a passion for learning. I try to explain to my students and my personal children how important it is to learn and educate yourself. I discuss the power learning has and the sense of pride that comes with the accomplishment of learning and achieving an educational goal.
