I have taught in two title I schools. I have experience teaching pre-k, 1st, and 5th grade. I currently teach 2nd grade.
I have a very interesting approach to teaching because I try to do everything I can to make my children think I am as nuts as possible. I love creating a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment where students can laugh as well as learn. I use hands-on problem solving based activities that require students to think and collaborate. My classroom also involves the "productive struggle". Students learn by doing and sometimes its okay to struggle until you have that light bulb moment.

I struggled as a child in early elementary school with reading but I had some very determined teachers and a mother who fostered a love of reading in me. After some very hard work, I became a reading addict and I still am to this day. I love teaching reading!!! I also struggled throughout my entire educational experience with math. A struggle which did not end until I began my undergrad. I became a teacher because I was determined to be a difference maker for children who struggle and who lack confidence in their abilities.
I live in Virginia Beach. I have a Jack Russel and a Belgian Malinois who are my only children right now. I love to read and travel. I currently work at a Title I school in the trenches as we like to say.
