I have been teaching 7th and 8th graders for 11 years. I did teach for a year at the high school (9-12th grades). I have taught too many subjects, but the majority of my time has been spent in 7th/8th grade language arts (EL , RFEP, Intervention, High Risk and Mild SPED classes). I have also taught math, science, history and learning center classes. I had the opportunity to teach a social thinking class for students with non verbal learning disorder, autism and aspergers. This year I have been given a class in which I co - teach in an 8th grade language arts class.
11 years, and everyday I figure out how to do it a little bit better. I am forever a student. Always trying to learn more and figure out how to better teach my students. My philosophy is to make content accessible. In other words, differentiate, differentiate, differentiate!! Find a different way to present the information, make connections, and get their BUY IN!!
Yet to be added
I received a Bachelors degree from Chico State, teaching credential from Sacramento State, and a Master's in Education from Sacramento State. I have a CLAD certificate and autism reauthorization.
I have spent most of my teaching career in a little mountain town in California. I loved it there. I loved the Lake, the open space, the small town, the smell, and if you can imagine, the snowstorms. This is where I called home for 18 years. But, one day we (my family) decided it was time for a change!! So, to the beach we came! Now, in a little San Diego beach town we wake up to the view of the ocean and the sound of the train!! Now I love: the food trucks, the christmas lights on the trunks of palm trees, the endless summer, and the new opportunities.
