I have been teaching since 1995. In recent years, I became a Google Certified educator and along with a group of five other educators organized a PLC for educators who wished to utilize technology in the classroom. Last year, we trained over 150 educators in our district on G Suites for Education. In my school and district, I deliver PL on learning strategies and technology to teachers, administrators, and staff members. For the past two years, I have been chosen to present at the Georgia Educational Technology Conference (GaETC), where I have been blessed by an ever expanding PLN.
I am a passionate educator who utilizes many different platforms to reach my students. As an ELA teacher, I love story-telling and often use this technique to "hook" my students. Over the past two years, my focus has been on individualizing my instruction and 20% Time projects. I have face-to-face writing conferences with each student every two to three weeks. As a result, my students' growth on their standardized tests have improved exponentially, but more importantly, their growth as thinkers and citizens has improved just as much due in part to the individual attention they receive.
