I have been teaching music for 25 years. I conduct two High School pop bands for which I write all of the musical arrangements tailored to each students particular skill level. I have also published four music education softwares and two music theory work books with Éditions de l'Envolée in Quebec (in French). I continue to develop new educational software (in both English and French) on a regular basis to expand the repertoire of teaching tools for education in the 21st century.
I see my teaching style as a mix between cognitive and constructivist, in which I encourage students to explore, discover and develop their understanding of concepts and notions through self-paced, self-evaluating interactive computer software followed by practical real-life applications of the acquired skills. As a teacher, I introduce new concepts and notions and give the students practical applications and activites in which they can apply and develop their understanding. They use the software as ressource tools to help them advance in their projects at their own pace and allowing them to build on what they know.
