TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Having taught since 1991, I have a fairly good bag of tools. I have taught elem. special education, middle school special education, and HS special education. I have also taught in a 2nd grade regular education classroom, and now teach in the 1st grade regular education classroom.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I balance between individual student work time & group work time. Balance is the key to me. Seatwork and Centers are both utilized in my room. Inquiry based learning is balanced with the traditional style of teaching (fact drill for fluency etc.). Students use various manipulatives, even when completing activity sheets. As far as classroom management, I offer rewards for good behavior, and focus on good behaviors, so I really don't have many discipline problems. I do have a discipline plan which I consistently follow. I enjoy the students, and absolutely love to make them smile and laugh.
