TEACHING EXPERIENCE

As a Biology and Chemistry major in college, I began working at a daycare/preschool to earn extra income. I fell in love with teaching and soon changed my major to Elementary Education, as I KNEW it was my calling! My first teaching job was in 2003, teaching Kindergarten. The following year I was moved to 4th grade to help improve our school's testing scores through Writing Portfolios and Language Arts. Soon, my husband and I became pregnant with our first of three children and I decided to take a leave from the classroom and be a stay-at-home mom! During this time, I launched at infant through 5th grade children's ministry at our church, writing curriculum and training volunteers to effectively engage children in learning through music, storytelling, arts/crafts, and technology! In 2013, I returned to the classroom at my son's Christian school once again teaching Kindergarten as well as directing the Preschool Program. My various experiences with young learners, including my own children, made this the perfect fit!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe children are sponges, and when given the proper scaffolding and encouragement, they can achieve great things at a young age! I love to challenge my students to push their limits to think, problem solve, be creative and imaginative, and above all, believe in themselves!
