I have been an educator for 25 years in the Central Ohio area, and am currently teaching education courses at the university level. I have also traveled the nation presenting at conferences, including the NMA, NCTE, OCEA, NCEA, and AERA. I work with various school districts and teachers by providing professional development workshops, classroom coaching, curriculum mapping, and school improvement projects, and I have won numerous awards, including teacher of the year, and teacher educator of the year, as well as being featured in "Who's Who of Teaching" 9 times. My passion is to work with, and learn from, educators everywhere so we can collectively make a difference in the lives of our students and help shape their future!
My teaching style varies, depending on the needs of my students, my lesson plan for the day, the strategies and activities we will utilize, and my learning outcomes. I always set high expectations for my students, and through the use of hands-on learning, direct instruction, scaffolded guided practice, and numerous strategies and activities, I choose and use a teaching style that fits. I am facilitator, direct instructor, encourager, inspiration-giver -- whatever my students need! I like to make learning fun, and am most centered on helping students FOCUS and THINK for themselves!!
I have been named Teacher of the Year and Teacher Educator of the Year, and have been named in "Who's Who of Teaching" 9 times. I have received accolades for helping turn around a number of lower-performing schools, and I consistently rate in the top 5% of instructors at my university.
I have a BA in English; a master's degree in education; and am currently ABD doctoral degree.
