I have been teaching elementary music for 14 years. My experience has been with PreK-6th grade general music, including Orff and recorders. I also direct an auditioned elementary school choir. I also have experience working with high school bands, auxiliaries, and show choirs. I have directed more than 70 concerts in my career and feel that concert organization with more than 100 students at a time is my specialty.
I am lucky to teach a subject that most all students love. I like for my students to feel that the music room is a fun place for them to learn and create, but also respect others, as well as the art of music. I run a tight ship in the music room, but my students also get to let loose and have fun when appropriate. I believe that balance is key.
My auditioned choir was selected to perform at our state conference in 2012 (AMEA). I have had the honor of acting as co-director (with my husband) of the AMEA Elementary Music Festival for two years.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education (Vocal) from Jacksonville State University. (Go Gamecocks!) I am currently pursuing my M.A. in Music Education.
I live in Alabama with my husband, who is also an elementary music teacher.
