TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a native Houstonian and owner of TutorMe Guillory. I began teaching in 2007. I've provided literacy instruction to students across the elementary spectrum. Currently, I contract with local elementary schools as a Literacy Interventionist and am a Reading Coach and Curriculum Developer for the Children's Learning Institute at the University of Texas Pediatric Center. I received my Masters of Education in Educational Leadership (Administration and Supervision) from the University of Houston and completed my undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University. I am the author of Real Teachers, Real Talk, a blog for teachers that provides instructional ideas and literacy strategies.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I want kids to be engaged in their own learning through direct, explicit mini lessons coupled with loads of discussion and interactions with their peers. I believe kids are waiting to find joy in their learning so they can genuinely love what they're doing each day. As educators, we plant the seed of knowledge that opens kids' minds to want to explore the world around them.
