I believe in carryover. With everything I do, I focus on how communication skills can be used in daily life. I share information and make products for speech-language pathologists that are age appropriate, thoughtfully designed, and easy to use. I'm Amanda Dugan, a licensed school-based SLP in North Carolina, specializing in serving children in 3rd through 6th grade (tweens). Nice to meet you! I've been in schools for nearly 10 years (both as a 5th grade teacher and now as an SLP) and LOVE working with tweens! Sometimes it's tough to find materials that aren't too babyish for my kiddos, so I've made a lot of my own. All of a sudden it occurred to me that maybe others would want to own these materials too. I figured that if I could help out other speechies and maybe put a dent in my student loans, why not go for it?
Having been a teacher before becoming an SLP, I know the challenges faced in both fields. There's never enough time in the day! Lately my focus has been on how to get kids to use their communication skills outside of my room. That's how a lot of my materials came to be.
Being able to work as an SLP in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina is such a blessing. Best job ever!
I have degrees in both education and communication sciences and disorders.
